Small motion capture company to be focus of 6 part documentary series
premiering on Spike April 23rd, 12AM EST.

April 5, 2009, New York, NY - Mocap, LLC will be featured in a new documentary series on Spike beginning April 23rd at midnight, and continuing for the next six weeks after.

The show will document the trials and tribulations of a small company trying to make its way in the competitive world of video game motion capture.

“Video Games are the new Hollywood, and we’re the ‘Shia Labeoufs’ of the 21st century,” said Mocap, LLC Director Frank Claxton, who is featured throughout the series. “We are very excited at the opportunity to tell the country our story and educate them about this exciting field.”

Adds Mocap’s lead motion capture artist Jeff Reynolds, “Motion capture is defined as the digital recording of movement for use in video games, but it’s much more than that. It’s the bridge between gamer and game, and we’re the road on that bridge, and that bridge has a toll, and that toll is not cheap.”

Spike was granted unprecedented access to Mocap, LLC during filming, and much of their footage reflects not only the emerging technology of motion capture and how it is uniquely collected by Mocap, LLC, but also the raw emotion of a company, in difficult economic times, desperately trying to remain solvent- a factor that is addressed directly by Claxton and his partners throughout the show. “Yes, times are tough, but you know, this is art. Hey, you want to make money? Open a tanning salon in Staten Island.”

Among the highlights of the series are the raw moments of confrontation captured between Claxton, Reynolds and Mocap, LLC’s General Manager Claire Owens. Owens, who manages the company’s day-to-day while dealing with her associates’ unorthodox approach to their jobs, often finds herself straddling the line between open hostility and simmering rage- that’s when she’s NOT protecting 20 year-old blonde intern Kendall Clement from her partners’ requests for “assistance” in the studio. “The business model these guys have developed is like the people who invented the Zune, got together with the people who came out with New Coke and made a joint venture with the new Iraqi government.”

MOCAP, LLC premieres Thursday night, April 23rd at Midnight on Spike.
